What to Expect
We’re excited that you’re considering a visit to our office!
Check out what to expect here and spend some time getting to know us. Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you!
When you call into the office, you will be warmly greeted by one of our front desk staff members Lori, Emilie, or Adelle. They will be glad to answer any of your questions and get you scheduled for your initial appointments.
After scheduling your initial visits with Chiropractic Concepts, our team members will email you brief paperwork. We ask that you provide as much detail in your paperwork about your history and specific needs. This will help the doctors connect and serve you better. Forget to fill it out? We will print off the paperwork in the office to complete before your first visit.
Before Visiting the Office
At your first visit, our receptionists will welcome you as a member of our family. Dr. Todd Boggs or Dr. Thomas Blackstone will first and foremost listen to you and your family’s health struggles and goals. Then, the doctor’s will explain how chiropractic care works and give you a full evaluation to see if our care is the best fit for you. This evaluation may include x-rays if the doctor deems it necessary. After looking over your case, in detail, our doctors will customize a chiropractic care plan for your condition and health goals, which you will go over at the second visit.
Your First Visit
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Todd Boggs or Dr. Thomas Blackstone will give you a detailed report of findings and answer any questions including:
How can you help me?
How often do I need to come?
What will my treatment cost?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine, nervous system and x-rays with you, our doctors will discuss recommendations, including your customized chiropractic care plan, and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. Boggs and Dr. Blackstone will provide the best care to meet your specific goals.
At the conclusion of this report, you can choose to experience your first treatment according to the doctor’s recommendations.
Your Second Visit
Daily visits include highly specific and nervous system-based chiropractic adjustments. Additional treatments based upon our doctors’ recommendations would take place after your adjustment. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment at anytime. We will be tracking your progress and making sure that you are progressing toward your goals.

Laying the foundation for total health
In some ways, one could say that chiropractic care is a bit like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular sequence in order for everything to stand strong and work together correctly. When building a house, if you tried to build your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to build your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem.
These concepts apply to your body as well, and chiropractic care addresses many common reasons why people experience pain and other health issues. If something is not right with your body's foundation, than that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With chiropractic care, your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .
Phases of Care
-
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our Gering chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient to need chiropractic care or adjustments 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.
-
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It is typical to need chiropractic care or adjustments about 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
-
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
